Terms of use
These terms are a license agreement between you and Camden Burke (“the developer”) for the Snap2Text app (“the app”). By downloading or using the app you agree to them. If you downloaded the app from the Mac App Store, Apple's Standard End User License Agreement also applies, and where the two differ, these terms give you at least the rights that agreement gives you.
1. License
The developer grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the app on Apple-branded devices you own or control, as permitted by the Usage Rules in the App Store Terms of Service, including use by family members through Family Sharing where the purchase allows it. The app is licensed, not sold. You may not copy, modify, reverse engineer, rent, lease or redistribute it except as the law expressly allows.
2. Purchase
- Snap2Text is a one-time purchase made through the App Store. It is not a subscription and does not renew, and every feature is included. Snap2Text Lite, an earlier edition, is no longer for sale; existing owners keep it.
- You can download it again at any time on any Mac signed in with the same Apple Account. Payment, refunds and billing are handled by Apple under its own terms.
- Features may be added, improved or changed in future updates.
3. Using the app
- The app recognizes text in regions of your screen that you choose. Recognition runs on your Mac and can make mistakes; check the result before you rely on it for anything that matters.
- You are responsible for what you capture. Do not use the app to copy text you have no right to copy.
4. Permissions and your data
The app asks for the Screen Recording permission so that it can capture the region you draw, and keeps everything on your Mac. See the privacy policy.
5. Ownership and open source
The app, its name, artwork and code belong to the developer, except for the open-source components listed on the licences page and in the app's About window, which remain under their own licences (including code from the MIT-licensed Maccy project). You own anything you capture with the app. These terms give you no rights in the developer's trademarks.
6. No warranty
The app is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement, to the fullest extent the law allows. In the event of any failure of the app to conform to a warranty that cannot be excluded, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price for the app to you; Apple has no other warranty obligation for the app.
7. Limit of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, the developer is not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for lost data, profits or opportunities, arising from your use of the app. The developer's total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for the app. Nothing here limits liability that the law does not allow to be limited.
8. Apple
You and the developer acknowledge that these terms are between you and the developer only, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for the app or its content, has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for it, and is not responsible for claims relating to it, including product liability, legal or regulatory compliance, consumer protection, or intellectual property infringement. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.
9. Ending the license
The license ends automatically if you break these terms. You can end it at any time by deleting the app. Sections that by their nature should survive (ownership, no warranty, limit of liability) do.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Tennessee, United States, without regard to conflict of laws rules, except where your local consumer law requires otherwise.
