Snap2Text privacy policy

Last updated 24 October 2026. Applies to Snap2Text and Snap2Text Lite for macOS.

Snap2Text collects no data about you. There is no account, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking, and the app makes no network connections.

What Snap2Text reads

When you capture a region of your screen, Snap2Text takes a picture of that region and recognizes the text in it with Apple's on-device Vision framework. The picture and the text never leave your Mac. Capturing needs the Screen Recording permission, which macOS asks you for the first time you use it; the app reads only the region you draw, and only when you ask it to. Watch mode re-reads the same region every few seconds, in the same way, until you stop it.

Snap2Text also reads QR codes in the region you capture. It does not watch your clipboard: only text recognized from your own captures goes into the history.

What stays on your Mac

Your capture history, pinned items and settings are stored in the app's own container on your Mac and nowhere else. You can delete any entry, clear the whole history, or have it cleared every time the app quits (Settings > Privacy). Deleting the app and its container removes everything.

Third parties

Snap2Text sends nothing to me or to anyone else, so there is nothing to share, sell or disclose. Text recognition does not use any cloud service.

Children

Snap2Text collects nothing from anyone, including children.
