Getting started
Snap2Text lives in the menu bar. Press Command-Shift-O, drag a box over any text on your screen, and the recognized text is copied to your clipboard. Press Command-Shift-C to open the history and find anything you captured before.
Common questions
| Problem | What to try |
|---|---|
| Nothing happens when I capture | macOS needs to allow Screen Recording for Snap2Text once. Open System Settings > Privacy & Security > Screen & System Audio Recording, switch Snap2Text on, then quit and reopen the app. |
| The hotkey does nothing | Open Settings from the menu bar icon and re-record the shortcut, or pick a combination another app does not already use. |
| The text came out wrong | Recognition runs on your Mac with Apple's Vision framework. Zoom the source so the text is larger on screen, then capture again. Clean-up of broken lines and bullets can be switched off in Settings if it changes something it should not. |
| How do I stop Watch mode? | Press Command-Shift-W again, or choose Stop Watching from the menu bar icon. Watch mode re-reads the same region every few seconds and adds a history entry when the text changes. |
| How do I delete my history? | Open the history (Command-Shift-C) and choose Clear in its footer, press Option-Shift-Command-Delete to clear everything, or remove the selected entry with Option-Delete (changeable in Settings > General). Settings > Privacy can also clear the history every time Snap2Text quits. Everything is stored only on your Mac. |
| I want my money back | If you bought from this website, see the refund policy. Refunds for App Store purchases are handled by Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com. |
| How do I remove it? | Quit Snap2Text from the menu bar icon, then drag it from Applications to the Bin. Nothing else is installed. |
