Privacy policy
Short version: Roomfeel has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. What you say about a place, and the photos you add, stay on your iPhone. The app asks Apple Maps and the US National Weather Service for information about the area you are looking at, and sends nothing that identifies you.
What stays on your iPhone
- Your preferences and saved places. Your answers in setup, the places you save, your collections, the places you pass on, and the answers you give after a visit.
- Your descriptions and photos. When you describe a place, the words, the choices and any photo you add are stored in the app on your iPhone. They are never uploaded and nobody else can see them. The photo picker gives Roomfeel only the photos you choose.
- Business drafts. Nothing is sent anywhere.
Deleting a description removes its photo. “Erase everything on this device” in the You tab removes all of it, and so does deleting the app.
What the app asks other services
- Location (optional). If you choose “Use my location”, Roomfeel reads your position while the app is open, to put nearby places first. That position is not sent to us, because we have no server. You can instead pick an area by hand and Roomfeel never asks for your location.
- Apple Maps. Roomfeel asks Apple Maps, live, for current listings and street photos of the outside of places in the area you are looking at. Apple receives those requests and handles them under Apple's privacy policy. You can turn the listings lookup off in Filters.
- Weather. Roomfeel asks the US National Weather Service (weather.gov) for the weather in the area you are looking at. The request carries that area's coordinates rounded to about a kilometre, so with “Use my location” it is your approximate position. It carries no name, account or device identifier. The service may keep ordinary server logs, such as an IP address, as any website does.
- Place information. Names, addresses, hours and phone numbers come from OpenStreetMap and are stored inside the app, so looking at them sends nothing anywhere.
- Links. A business's website, Instagram or Facebook page opens only when you tap it, in your browser or the matching app, under that service's own policy.
What we do not do
We do not track you across apps or websites, build a profile of you, sell or share data, or use advertising identifiers. This website sets no cookies. It keeps anonymous page counts that hold no personal identifier, which the site privacy page explains. The Roomfeel app itself has no analytics.
Your control
You can pick an area instead of using your location, turn off the Apple Maps lookup in Filters, remove any description or photo, erase everything in the You tab, and turn off location access in Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services.
Children
Roomfeel collects no personal data from anyone, including children. It lists places that serve alcohol, so it is not aimed at children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new effective date.
