Accessibility statement
I want everyone to be able to use this site, including people who use screen readers, keyboards, magnification, voice control or reduced motion. I aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA.
How accessible it is
This site is partly conformant with WCAG 2.2 level AA. I checked the pages with automated testing (axe-core) and by hand with a keyboard, browser zoom and a narrow screen, and I fixed what I found. I have not yet had the site audited by an outside specialist or tested with every screen reader, so some barriers may remain.
What is in place
- A skip link, a clear heading order, and landmarks on every page.
- Everything works with a keyboard, and the keyboard focus is always visible.
- Images that carry meaning have text alternatives. Decorative art is hidden from screen readers.
- The moving background can be paused with a button on every page, and it stays still if your system asks for reduced motion.
- Music is off until you turn it on, and it has its own button.
- The demo videos have no sound. Each has a text description for screen readers.
- Each page declares its language, including the translated pages, and the text can be enlarged and reflows on a narrow screen.
- Forms have labels, and errors and confirmations are announced.
Known limits
- The large headings use a pixel-style font. Some people find it harder to read than the plain system font used for body text.
- Some text sits on a gradient or an animated background. I check contrast against the lightest and darkest parts, but a few spots may be close to the limit.
- The mock screens that demonstrate Looking Glass are pictures of an English interface and stay in English on translated pages.
- Translations were prepared with machine assistance and may contain mistakes.
- The Mac App Store badge is an image supplied by Apple.
